Most Reverend Emmanuel Asante, former Chairman of the Peace Council, has urged Ghanaians to uphold unity and harmony as the nation strives for development.
Delivering the sermon at the burial service (Doteyie) of the late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, he said the massive show of solidarity from across the country reflected the continuing relevance of the chieftaincy institution in holding the nation together. He reminded Ghanaians to see themselves as one people with a common destiny, stressing that true meaning in life is found through faith in God, not material possessions.

In a tribute, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, described the late Queen Mother as a woman of dignity, humility, and wisdom whose reign was marked by peace and service. “Her departure has left emptiness in Asanteman,” he said, praising her role as a mother of the nation and a pillar of traditional governance.
Former President John Dramani Mahama also eulogised her as a “true remarkable matriarch,” noting that her influence and social impact extended beyond Asanteman to inspire women across Ghana. Her remains are to be interred on the night of September 18, 2025, at the Breman Royal Mausoleum after four days of burial rites. Authorities have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Kumasi to prevent movement during the funeral procession from Manhyia to Breman.
