“While you accept the challenge to lead the workers of COCOBOD at these critical and challenging times of the cocoa industry, you must be guided by the status and importance of COCOBOD as a key player in Ghana’s economy,” Mr Ayawine stated.
He reminded the executives to take lessons from the rich history of cooperation between management and unions in the cocoa sector, which had contributed immensely to sustaining Ghana’s reputation as a top cocoa producer.
“We believe that, with the government and COCOBOD implementing the right and systematic policies, we can quickly turn things around by improving quality, increasing tonnage, and reclaiming our enviable position as the world’s leading producer of premium cocoa,” he added.
Mr Ayawine reiterated the ICU’s commitment to working in partnership with COCOBOD’s management at both divisional and subsidiary levels to address key issues such as productivity, staff welfare, and operational efficiency.
