NHIS registration drive gains attention at African Athletics Championship

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is carrying out registration, renewals and public sensitisation activities at the ongoing 24th African Senior Athletics Championship at the Legon Sports Stadium in Accra.

According to the NHIS, hundreds of patrons attending the championship have visited the registration desk to access services and obtain information on healthcare coverage and the benefits of active membership under the Scheme.

The championship has attracted athletes, officials and spectators from across Africa.

To meet the growing demand, the Ayawaso District team has extended operations beyond regular hours and introduced night registration services to allow more people to access NHIS services during the event.

NHIS officials are also engaging patrons within and around the stadium through sensitisation activities focused on healthcare access, membership benefits and the importance of remaining actively enrolled on the Scheme.

The exercise forms part of efforts by the NHIS to use major public events to increase enrollment and strengthen public awareness on healthcare access.
