More than 140 retired ministers of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, in Greater Accra East and West, together with their spouses, have benefited from a free health screening programme organised by the Lordina Foundation.
The exercise, held at the Ringway Gospel Centre in Accra, offered consultations, laboratory tests, and free medication. Beneficiaries were screened for blood sugar, Hepatitis B, prostate health, cancers, and other vital indicators by a team of general practitioners, gynaecologists, urologists, dietitians, and optometrists.

The initiative, instituted by First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama in September 2024, fulfils her pledge to regularly support the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association. Since then, screenings have been held in November 2024, March 2025, June 2025, and September 2025.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Mahama said the continuation of the programme was driven by its life-changing impact. “Our retired ministers have diligently served the church, the community, and the nation. This initiative is one of the ways the Lordina Foundation gives back to society, supporting those who have dedicated their lives to serving others,” she noted.
She assured participants that the programme would continue, adding that their health and well-being remain a priority for her and President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. George Selorm Quarcoe, a board member of the Lordina Foundation, emphasised the Foundation’s focus on health and education as pillars of thriving communities.
Church leaders welcomed the support, with Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God, noting: “Since she started the free medical care, no retired minister has come to the office asking for support.” Rev. Dr. Harry Insaidoo, President of the Retired Ministers and Spouses Association, described the Foundation’s sustained assistance as invaluable.
The initiative has become a cornerstone of the Lordina Foundation’s outreach, offering both essential healthcare and reassurance to a group that has long served Ghana’s spiritual and social fabric.
