Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, has called on healthcare institutions across Ghana to uphold professional and ethical standards in service delivery.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) in Koforidua, the Minister emphasised the importance of fairness, dignity, and patient safety, urging practitioners not to discriminate against patients in either public or private facilities.

“Treatment of patients with care, dignity and respect has virtually become my signature message since I assumed office,” he stated, adding that ethical practice goes beyond observable actions to the values guiding daily interactions.
Mr Akandoh commended CHAG’s long-standing contribution to healthcare, particularly in underserved communities. He highlighted that CHAG facilities provide over 30 percent of health services nationwide, describing them as “beacons of compassion and healing” and affirming that medicine is not only a science is also a ministry.
Acknowledging challenges such as personnel placement and salary delays, the Minister assured government support to improve healthcare worker morale. He stressed that beyond clinical procedures, the human connection is essential for effective healing.
The conference, held under the theme: “Sustaining Christian Identity, Values, and Ethics in Health Systems Strengthening,” convened national health leaders, policymakers, and faith-based stakeholders. Discussions focused on responsible leadership, financial governance, resource management, and strategies to sustain quality healthcare delivery within CHAG institutions, aligned with the Ministry’s 2026-2029 Health Sector Medium-Term Development Plan.
