The Free Primary Health Programme has introduced a free primary healthcare service aimed at removing financial barriers and supporting universal health coverage.
The programme provides basic screening services, including blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI checks, and non-communicable disease risk assessments at patients’ doorsteps.

It also offers cancer care services such as breast cancer screening, prostate cancer referrals, and cervical cancer awareness.
Mental health services include screening and counselling, while child health services cover vision, dental, skin, and general health checks, as well as school health screening for children aged 4–18 years.
Newborn care services include newborn screening, sickle cell referrals, and developmental checks. Maternal health services focus on antenatal and postnatal care promotion, pregnancy nutrition, and birth preparedness.
Family planning services provide contraception education and methods, including implants, IUCDs, and injectables.
Nutrition and immunisation support includes breastfeeding guidance, child feeding practices, and immunisation promotion.
Disease prevention services cover screening and counselling for HIV, TB, malaria, and hepatitis.
The programme also promotes healthy lifestyles, including exercise, diet, sleep hygiene, and alcohol and smoking cessation.
Wash and hygiene education focuses on sanitation, safe water, hygiene, and waste management.
Menstrual hygiene services include counselling, diagnosis, and treatment for menstrual disorders, painful periods, and heavy bleeding.
The initiative is aimed at removing financial barriers towards achieving universal health coverage.
