The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Prince Sefah, has urged Ghanaians to enable the data roaming feature on their mobile phones to enjoy improved network connectivity and service quality.
He explained that the recommendation forms part of two major government initiatives led by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation: the Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion Project (RURALCOM) and the National Roaming Policy.

According to Mr. Sefah, the RURALCOM project is deploying 2,016 telecom sites in underserved communities to provide voice and data services to about 3.5 million Ghanaians. Subscribers of participating mobile network operators can automatically connect to available networks for voice services in areas where their primary provider has no coverage.
He added that under the National Roaming Policy, mobile phones can automatically connect to the network offering the best quality of service. To access roaming for data services, however, users must enable the data roaming feature on their devices.
Mr. Sefah assured consumers that enabling data roaming within Ghana would not attract additional charges without prior notice from telecom operators. He encouraged mobile phone users to activate the feature to enjoy seamless connectivity wherever they are in the country.
