Berekum East GNFS Commander urges fire safety as only fire tender remains grounded

The Berekum East Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Divisional Officer Grade Two (DOII) Deh Kwabena Mawuli, has appealed to residents to be safety conscious in order to prevent domestic fire outbreaks.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Berekum, DOII Mawuli revealed that the division’s only fire tender has been faulty and out of use for several months. He assured that the vehicle would soon be repaired but noted that in the meantime, the division relies on the Nsoatre fire tender in the Sunyani West Municipality to respond to emergencies.

He called on the public to support efforts to repair the grounded fire tender and cautioned households to be careful in handling naked fires. He further advised against the improper use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders, stressing that such negligence could easily lead to fire outbreaks. DOII Mawuli also encouraged households to acquire fire extinguishers as a precautionary measure.
