DEFILEMENT: Accra teacher sentenced 12 years for having sex with 15-year-old pupil

In a recent development, a 31-year-old teacher, Fedelix Kogbe, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by an for the of a 15-year-old pupil.

Despite initially pleading not guilty to the charges of , Kogbe was found guilty by the court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann.

The incident occurred on December 7, 2019, in Dome, , where Kogbe, the former teacher of the victim, was accused of defiling her.

The complainant, who is the father of the victim, lived with her at Dome.

According to the prosecution, on the fateful day, the complainant left the victim at home and went to town. Seizing the opportunity, the victim invited Kogbe to her house under the pretence of installing software on her laptop. Alone in the house, they sat on the victim's bed.

After installing the software and songs on the laptop, Kogbe reportedly kissed the victim and engaged in sexual intercourse with her.

The complainant returned home around 11:00 AM and, upon hearing a male voice in the victim's room, became suspicious.

Upon entering the bedroom, the complainant noticed the victim in different clothing, raising concerns.

Further investigation revealed tissue paper on the floor, which, upon inspection, “smelled like sperm.” The complainant found Kogbe hiding naked in the victim's wardrobe.

Taking swift action, the complainant locked Kogbe and the victim in the house and reported the incident to the police. Kogbe, in his caution statement to the police, claimed to have taken off his shirt due to the warmth of the victim's bedroom, insisting that he only kissed her.

However, subsequent investigations proved otherwise, confirming the sexual intercourse with the 15-year-old victim at the time of the incident.
