Two arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition

DAMBAI, 29 April 2026 – The Nkwanta Municipal Police Command has arrested two persons for unlawful possession of a firearm and large quantities of ammunition following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects, Richard Kpimbi, 27, and Latif Adam, 20, were intercepted on 29 April 2026 at the Brewaniase Police barrier while travelling in a Kia Rhino truck with registration number GW 9927-13.

A search of the vehicle uncovered one Adler pump-action gun, 7,000 AAA cartridges, 3,000 BB cartridges and 1,124 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition concealed in plastic sacks and boxes under tarpaulins.

The suspects are in police custody assisting investigations, and all retrieved exhibits have been retained for further action.

The Police said it remains committed to ensuring public safety and urged the public to provide credible information to support efforts in combating crime.
