Anyinam, Eastern Region – The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a suspect involved in a widely circulated video showing a brutal machete assault on a young man near a fuel tanker.
In a statement, police said that an intelligence-led operation on April 9, 2025, led to the arrest of Dawuda Sumaila, a tanker driver’s mate who was captured in the viral footage attacking the victim.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region. Sumaila is currently in custody and assisting investigators with the case.
Police assured the public that the matter is under thorough investigation and reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
