The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of a suspect accused of threatening police and military personnel in a viral social media video.
According to the Police, the suspect, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, was arrested by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) in collaboration with officers at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region.

Police said the suspect, who appeared masked in the video, allegedly warned police officers against attempting to arrest armed robbers and threatened to kill any officer who confronted him.
The suspect was arrested on May 7, 2026, in Jacobu, Amansie Central District, Ashanti Region, and is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.
The Police said he will be arraigned before the court in accordance with the law.
The Service also reiterated its commitment to dealing firmly with incitement, threats, and attacks against security personnel, warning that offenders will face legal consequences.
