The Minority in Parliament has alleged that the government plans to suspend or cancel about 60 infrastructure projects as part of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Monday, Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza accused the government of conducting the IMF negotiations without transparency, saying Ghanaians had not been informed about the commitments being made.

According to the Adaklu MP, projects reportedly affected include the Obetsebi Interchange, La General Hospital redevelopment, the Shama road project, and the Tema Motorway Roundabout to Adomi Bridge road, among others.
Mr Agbodza claimed some foreign contractors had already received mobilisation payments of between 15 and 20 percent but were unable to proceed because the government had allegedly directed that work be suspended.
He questioned the criteria being used to determine which projects would be halted, arguing that the public deserved to know the basis for such decisions.
Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said Ghana had taken key steps toward securing an IMF support programme, including implementing the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
Speaking during a meeting with Germany’s Finance Minister, Christian Lindner, at the Jubilee House, the President said Ghana was targeting IMF Board approval by the middle of March after reaching a staff-level agreement.
The government also extended the deadline for participation in the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme to February 7, 2023, while announcing revised terms for individual bondholders, retirees, and ongoing discussions with organised labour, pension fund trustees, banks, and insurance companies to facilitate the programme.
