President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have donated GH¢100,000 to the Poppy Fund to support the welfare of military veterans and their widows.
The donation is expected to support the completion of a veterans’ clinic currently under construction at Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The Poppy Fund was established by Veterans Administration, Ghana (VAG) to provide welfare support for veterans and the families of deceased ex-servicemen.
The contribution by the President and the Vice-President forms part of efforts to improve healthcare and social support services for veterans through the completion of the medical facility.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr Bawumia encouraged individuals, corporate organisations and other well-meaning Ghanaians to contribute to the Poppy Fund to enhance the welfare of veterans and their widows.
He said supporting veterans was a collective national responsibility in recognition of their sacrifices and dedicated service to the country.
The Poppy Fund is one of the key initiatives of the Veterans Administration, Ghana, aimed at improving the living conditions and well-being of retired military personnel and their dependants.
