Techiman, Ghana – Mr Joseph Adoma, the Municipal Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Techiman Municipality, is calling on women to actively engage in District Assembly and Unit Committee level elections to bolster inclusivity at all levels of governance.
Mr Adoma stressed the importance of women assuming responsible roles such as Assembly women, unit committee leaders, and opinion leaders, emphasizing their crucial role in contributing to the nation's development.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Techiman, Mr Adoma elaborated on the potential women possess to influence and advocate for developmental decisions that can be integrated into the district's development plan.
He urged women to harness their valuable ideas to drive progress and make their mark on the nation-building process.
He further underlined the significant role women play in various development areas and encouraged them to channel their enthusiasm towards nation-building, recognising their capacity to effect positive change.
Mr. Adoma expressed his confidence that, when given the opportunity, women can excel, as they are adept at managing households and are effective agents of change. Their involvement in local governance can make a substantial difference in community development.
Supporting this call for increased female participation in local governance, Mr. Ishmael Lamptey, the Bono East Regional programs officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), highlighted the fact that women constitute a significant portion of the nation's population.
He emphasised that their great influence could make an immeasurable positive contribution to society.
