GIPC Embarks on Sensitization Tour in Techiman to Boost Investment

A team from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre () has initiated a sensitization tour in , located in the Region, aimed at engaging stakeholders on strategies to attract both local and foreign investors to foster development in the area.

Themed “Grow in Ghana, grow with Ghana,” this tour will encompass several regions, including , Bono, , Volta, , Eastern, and the Greater Regions. The primary objectives of this outreach effort are to create awareness regarding the functions of the , promote local investments, and assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in scaling up to attract more investments.

The GIPC team will engage with processors, local investors, small-scale enterprises, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as traditional authorities to stress the importance of making land available for investment purposes. They will also visit businesses with investment potential to educate them on how to create opportunities for attracting both local and foreign investors within the sector.

Dr. George Asafo-Adjei, Director for Monitoring and Evaluation at GIPC, disclosed that the Bank is supporting this tour under the Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP) in its second phase of annual Regional Sensitization.

The team has already held discussions with Regional Ministers, Regional Coordinating Directors, and RCC staff, as well as representatives from various organizations including the Ministry of (MoTI), Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (), (GEPA), Ghana Exim Bank, the Venture Capital Trust Fund, and the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA). These engagements took the form of business forums and clinics.

Over 1,000 participants from the public and private sectors, including members of the (AGI), (GNCCI), and the Association of Small-Scale Industries (ASSI), attended these events. Discussions revolved around specific initiatives related to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement () and how to secure financing for various projects.

Mr. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, Bono East Regional Minister, encouraged MMDAs to identify development projects that the GIPC could effectively market, thus enhancing overall development in their respective districts and the region.

Madam Ellen Okain Feuku, a processor, expressed her appreciation for the forum, emphasizing that the knowledge gained would be instrumental in attracting investors to the region.
