A five-day training workshop for staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) from the Volta and Oti regions has opened in Ho, focusing on the Authority’s Updated Financial Manual.

The workshop aims to strengthen the financial management capacity of NHIA staff, enhance accountability, and promote operational efficiency across the Authority.

In her opening remarks, Madam Susan Chobbah, Volta Regional Director of the NHIA, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to maintaining its positive performance trajectory and surpassing its current achievements.

She said this would be achieved through stronger stakeholder collaboration, intensified public education, and greater use of technology to improve service delivery.

Madam Chobbah expressed confidence that the Volta Region would continue to serve as a model of excellence within the NHIA. She highlighted the region’s consistent success in membership registration and renewals under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), attributing the achievement to the dedication and teamwork of staff who have expanded coverage, particularly to hard-to-reach communities.

“This success is a clear indication of our staff’s dedication, teamwork, and deep commitment to ensuring that every resident has access to quality healthcare through the National Health Insurance Scheme,” she stated.

The Regional Director emphasised the importance of the training in equipping participants with the knowledge required to manage public funds prudently. “I hope this training will strengthen our capacities to ensure that every cedi entrusted to us serves the purpose for which it is intended,” she added.

Madam Chobbah commended the NHIA Management for approving the workshop, noting that the knowledge gained would help participants promote greater transparency and efficiency in the use of public funds. She urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to deepen their understanding of financial documentation and management.

She also expressed optimism that the leadership and vision of the NHIA’s management would continue to inspire staff to pursue excellence in their work.
