Government and organised labour agree nine percent 2026 base pay increase on single spine salary structure

The Government of Ghana and organised labour have concluded negotiations with a firm agreement to raise the 2026 base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure by nine percent across the board.

The deal, reached on Sunday, November 9, follows days of bargaining that began on Friday, October 31, and stretched through a series of meetings led by the Public Sector Joint Standing Negotiating Committee. The agreed adjustment will take effect from January to December 2026.

The signing ceremony brought together key representatives from both sides. Dr George Smith-Graham, Executive Director of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance, endorsed the agreement on behalf of the Government.

Organised labour was represented by Mr Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), and Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG.

The agreement reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continue engagement with unions on unresolved Conditions of Service matters, while both parties pledged to maintain regular dialogue on managing the economy.
