The Oti Regional Director of the National Peace Council (NPC), Mr Paul Akonor, has lauded the media for its vital contribution to sustaining peace and stability across the country.

Speaking at a training workshop in Tamale, he acknowledged that effective media coverage had significantly enhanced the Council’s work, particularly through timely information dissemination and consistent amplification of peace-building messages.

Mr Akonor explained that much of the Council’s operations depended on discreet, behind-the-scenes engagements with conflicting parties, noting that media support had helped strengthen these efforts.
“We do more of what we call back channels, where we engage competing parties separately and through other means to ensure that we are doing our work,” he noted.

Mr Charles Ohene-Amoah, Central Regional Executive Secretary of the NPC, also expressed satisfaction with the Council’s ongoing work in resolving conflicts and promoting social cohesion.
