St Augustine’s College, represented by Harold Adama Datti, Nana Benyin Buaful, and Daniel Eyiram Adzano, aimed for their third trophy after previous wins in 2007 and 2019, while two-time champions Opoku Ware, represented by John Kusi, Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah, and David Opoku, sought a third after victories in 1997 and 2002.
The grand finale, held at the New Examination Centre at the University of Cape Coast, was charged with excitement. Supporters and students engaged in lively “jama” competitions and playful banter, while strict security protocols ensured order following disruptions in earlier rounds involving Prempeh College, Adisadel College, and Mfantsipim.
Mfantsipim dominated from the outset, navigating the speed race and tactical rounds with precision. Despite a strong challenge from St Augustine’s College, the “fathers” maintained composure, steadily increasing their lead and finishing the final round with 56 points, leaving both St Augustine’s and Opoku Ware unable to answer the concluding riddles.
The victory earned Mfantsipim School GHC70,000, an all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai, and additional awards. St Augustine’s College received GHC50,000 with accompanying prizes for second place, while Opoku Ware School took home GHC35,000 and other gifts.
Notably, Blessed Oforiwaa Nsiah of Mankranso SHS was awarded a $40,000 scholarship from Academic City University covering tuition, accommodation, laptop, books, and meals, in recognition of her outstanding performance during the competition.
