Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as “a true icon whose legacy will forever inspire generations of Ghanaian women.”
In a statement issued on Friday, the Vice President praised Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings for her outstanding service to Ghana, her dedication to women’s empowerment, and her unwavering commitment to national development.

“She will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to the service of Ghana and the empowerment of women.
My deepest condolences go to her children and the entire Agyeman-Rawlings family. I wish her a peaceful rest.”

The family of the late former First Lady confirmed her passing in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, aged 76, was Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, a transformative organisation that advanced women’s rights and community development across the nation.
