A tipper truck created chaos in Ho on Monday afternoon as it ran over ten vehicles while descending a hill from the Ola traffic lights.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties in the incident, although several vehicles suffered extensive damage.
The tipper truck, with registration number GX 3734 – 18, left debris strewn across a stretch of the Ho Civic Centre road.
Witnesses described a tense moment when one of the affected vehicles collided with an electricity pole, causing a series of electric sparks.
Due to the involvement of some LPG-powered vehicles, fire officers responding to the scene exercised caution to prevent the risk of fire.
They noted that the recovery operations needed to be carried out meticulously.
In addition to the damaged cars, two motorcycles were also involved in the collision, including some taxis.
An elder of the Asogli State stressed the importance of commuters remaining vigilant and adhering to road regulations, given the frequency of such incidents.
It was also noted that heavy axle trucks often disregarded instructions to avoid using the city center when loaded.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected section of the street, and police and fire personnel worked together to tow away the damaged vehicles.
Another tipper truck was called to the scene to transport the sand load from the accident truck, which had several damaged tires, in order to facilitate its removal.
