Media Foundation seeks KPMG audit report on GRA-SML contract

The (MFWA) has taken action to access the full audit report on the revenue mobilisation agreement between the (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) by submitting a Right to Information (RTI) application to the Presidency.

, the auditing firm commissioned by President , completed and presented its report on the GRA-SML contract. The audit revealed that SML received GH¢1,061,054,778.00 from 2018 to date, partially fulfilling its obligations and increasing revenue in the downstream petroleum sector.

However, SML contested this figure, arguing that it did not account for investments made and taxes paid during the review period.

Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of MFWA, emphasized their request for the complete KPMG Audit Report through the RTI process, expressing hope for compliance with the law.

Meanwhile, , Vice President of , questioned President 's response to the audit report, suggesting acknowledgement of irregularities in the contract awarding process.

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu criticized the KPMG report as a ‘whitewash,' citing the firm's relationship with the GRA as compromising its objectivity. He highlighted concerns about independence and conflict of interest in the auditing process.
