HFFG calls on government to prioritize immunization funding

Hope for Future Generations (HFFG), a Non-Governmental Organisation () focusing on health and youth empowerment, has urged the government to fulfill its co-financing obligation for immunization by midyear, paying arrears of part payment.

In a statement issued during the Immunization Week Celebration, themed “Humanly Possible: Saving Lives through Immunization,” HFFG emphasized the critical role of immunization in preserving and enhancing human life. The organization highlighted the importance of increasing domestic resource mobilization dedicated to vaccine procurement, immunization service delivery, and Primary Health Care to achieve universal immunization coverage.

HFFG recommended timely release of funds for vaccine procurement to prevent shortages that could adversely affect vaccine administration, especially for children. Additionally, it called for increased national budgets for Primary Health Care to strengthen health systems and support outreach programs, ensuring robust vaccination campaigns even in hard-to-reach communities.

The statement emphasized the importance of sustainable domestic funding for immunization programs, enabling countries to respond swiftly during public health emergencies and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. HFFG reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for greater domestic resource mobilization and increased accountability for immunization results.

The pledged to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to advance public health goals and promote sustainable development. It urged the public to join the Immunization Week Celebration to celebrate the impact of immunization and renew collective resolve to save lives through vaccination.
