Adjiriganor demolition must be investigated - House owner

Owner of ten houses demolished at Adjiriganor, Mr. George Bonsu, is demanding investigations into the incident, citing allegations of excessive force during the demolition. The demolition, which occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2024, reportedly involved police and military personnel forcibly entering the property, confiscating phones, assaulting individuals, and preventing residents from contacting the police.

The houses, estimated at GH₵60 million, were razed amid an ongoing legal battle between Mr. Bonsu and One Hajia Aisha Ahmed over the land on which the properties were built. Mr. Benjamin Danso, the spokesperson for Mr. Oti Bonsu, alleged that the demolition was orchestrated by Mr. Abu , Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization ().

The call for investigations comes amidst concerns over the legality and conduct of the demolition, as well as the involvement of security personnel and government officials. Mr. Oti Bonsu's demand for accountability underscores the need for a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the demolition, including any potential violations of the law or abuses of power.
