Call for NAPO’s removal ‘borne out of ignorance’ – Aide rebukes IES boss

Kofi Abrefa Afena, the spokesperson for Energy Minister Dr. , has rebuffed calls by Nana Amoasi VII, Executive Director of the (IES), for the minister's removal over ongoing power supply challenges, known as “dumsor,” in Ghana.

Afena dismissed the call as “borne out of ignorance,” asserting that it's inaccurate to claim that the minister is out of touch with reality. He emphasized the minister's dedication to addressing the challenges and assured that solutions are being implemented.

While acknowledging the current difficulties, Afena questioned the logic behind Amoasi's call for the minister's removal, citing the need for solutions rather than personnel changes. He pointed out that resignations in the past, such as Kwabena Donkor's resignation during the dumsor era under the previous administration, did not necessarily resolve the issues.

Afena reiterated the minister's plea for patience from Ghanaians as efforts continue to resolve the temporary challenges in the energy sector.

Nana Amoasi VII criticized the current leadership in the energy sector, advocating for a new leader to address the challenges effectively. He expressed dissatisfaction with the minister's alleged disregard for public concerns and called for cooperation in finding solutions.

The ongoing power outages have led to calls for a structured timetable to manage disruptions, with stakeholders and the public expressing frustration over the situation.
