Only Energy Minister can bring dumsor timetable - Yaw Osafo-Maafo

Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Senior Presidential Advisor, has clarified that the decision to publish a load-shedding timetable lies within the purview of the Energy Minister. He emphasized that only the Energy Minister possesses the authority to order the publication, given his oversight of power generation.

Speaking at a forum on open government partnerships and construction sector transparency in , Osafo-Maafo reiterated that the Energy Minister, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, is responsible for assessing power generation and utilization, thus making him the appropriate authority to decide on the implementation of a load-shedding timetable.

Despite requests for a timetable, Dr. Opoku Prempeh has dismissed claims of ongoing power outages in the country. Similarly, Majority Leader in , Alexander Afenyo-Markin, expressed confidence in the government's ability to address sporadic power challenges.

Afenyo-Markin cited the government's track record of effectively managing similar situations in the past and assured the public that measures were being actively taken to resolve the current power issues.

Ghana has been facing intermittent power outages, commonly referred to as ‘Dumsor,' for several months, raising concerns among businesses about its adverse effects on the economy.
