Kofi Kinaata shares insight into career shift from football to music

Highlife sensation Kofi Kinaata recently disclosed a surprising reason behind his transition from a promising football career to becoming a successful musician.

In an on “The Chat,” hosted by Ekow Koomson on Citi TV, Kofi Kinaata revealed that financial constraints, particularly the inability to afford football boots, were a significant obstacle in pursuing his passion for football during his formative years in Efiekuma, .

“Money for boots was the main problem…but with music, you don't need to buy a microphone before you can sing…You just sing then you pass it on to the owner,” he explained.

This accessibility of music, coupled with financial constraints in football, influenced Kofi Kinaata's decision to pursue a career in music.

Despite achieving remarkable success in the music industry, including winning the Songwriter of the Year award at the Vodafone Awards three times, Kofi Kinaata has yet to release his anticipated album or EP, titled ”Kofi OO Kofi”.

Explaining the delay, Kofi Kinaata attributed it to the persistent requests from his fans, who have been urging him to release new music. “I'm here because of the fans and the fans are the ones pestering me to release an EP or album…Since it's a team now and they're on my neck to release an album I decided to release it for them to stream,” he said.

The EP, originally scheduled for release on April 15, has been rescheduled to either 3rd or 10th May. In the meantime, Kofi Kinaata has released his latest single, ”Efiekuma Broken Heart”.
