Vice President Bawumia pays respects to late Alhaji Rashid Bawa

Vice President Dr. , also the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (), extended condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Rashid Bawa, Ghana's former High Commissioner to Abuja, on Saturday.

Dr. Bawumia visited the tomb of the late diplomat to pay his respects and signed the book of condolence. Expressing his sympathy, he assured the family of his solidarity during this difficult time.

Engaging with the mother and relatives of Alhaji Bawa, Dr. Bawumia expressed his sorrow over the sudden passing of the diplomat. He emphasized the virtues of honesty, hard work, and dependability that Alhaji Bawa embodied, and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.

In a heartfelt message penned in the Book of Condolence, Dr. Bawumia reminisced about the friendship and camaraderie he shared with the late diplomat. He expressed gratitude for their bond and praised Alhaji Bawa's character and contributions to society.

The Vice President was joined by several dignitaries from the , including the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Mr. Frederick Blay, former NPP National Chairman, and Mr. Asamoah Boateng, Minister of , among others.

Alhaji Rashid Bawa, a 64-year-old Legal Practitioner, passed away on Thursday, March 14, in Abuja, . His body was repatriated to Ghana and laid to rest at on Friday, March 15, 2024, following Islamic funeral rites.

Recognizing his significant contributions to the nation, the Government organized a national farewell ceremony on Saturday, April 20, to honour and appreciate Alhaji Bawa's service to Ghana.
