NDC opts out of Ejisu by-election, focusing on general election

The National Democratic Congress () has announced its decision not to participate in the upcoming Constituency by-election slated for April 30, 2024. Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the Party's General Secretary, clarified that this choice aimed to consolidate resources for a robust campaign to secure the seat in the national election scheduled for December 2024.

The vacancy in the Constituency arose following the passing of the Member of , Dr. , on March 7, 2024. Consequently, the scheduled a by-election for April 30, 2024, to fill the vacant seat.

The New Patriotic Party () recently selected Mr. Kwabena Boateng as its candidate for the by-election.

In a media interaction, Mr. Kwetey emphasized the 's strategic focus on the general election in December, stating that the party would not contest in the Ejisu by-election. He cited ongoing preparations for the national election and the need to concentrate efforts on ensuring victory across constituencies, including Ejisu.

Mr. Kwetey underscored the party's confidence in its existing processes and expressed the intent to fully implement them ahead of December 7. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the time between now and the general election to deploy all available resources effectively.
