NDC to decide on Ejisu by-election on April 16

The National Democratic Congress () in the has announced that a final decision regarding the party's involvement in the upcoming by-election will be made on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

This announcement follows the 's (EC) scheduling of the by-election for April 30, 2024, following the passing of on March 7, 2024. , aged 45, passed away after a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the 's Ashanti Regional Secretary, confirmed in an on Citi TV on Monday, April 9, that the party is in the process of determining its stance on the election. He revealed that the party has already identified a candidate for the constituency and is awaiting guidance from the national leadership.

Dr. Amoakohene explained, “We in the NDC are far ahead in terms of the processes leading into this by-election and we have a candidate already. We had not earlier come out with a firm stance on whether we were participating or not because we were hoping and waiting to hear the date and the declaration that the seat is vacant.”

He further stated, “So we are considering a lot of things on our desk and I am very sure that we will be guided by all the research work that has been done and I am sure that by Tuesday, we will be able to put to rest all the debate on whether we are contesting or not.”
