Over 13,000 projects listed on gov't performance tracker with geolocations-Oppong Nkrumah

The government has introduced a performance tracker aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability for infrastructure projects executed under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa since 2017. This initiative, unveiled at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration () in , builds upon the delivery tracker launched in 2020 by Vice President Dr .

Accessible via the website www.performancetracker.gov.gh or downloadable as an app from the Play Store or App Store, the performance tracker provides a comprehensive database of government projects spread across the country's 261 metropolitan, municipal, and district areas. It catalogues over 13,000 projects completed by the Government as of June 2023, complete with geolocations and photographs for easy validation and analysis by individuals and corporate entities.

Mr , the Minister of , unveiled the tracker on behalf of the Vice President, highlighting its dynamic nature and user-friendly interface. Organized into five main sections and 22 thematic areas, the tracker facilitates easy navigation and comparison of infrastructure projects across various sectors, including , education, health, and job creation.

Mr Nkrumah underscored the tracker's role in empowering taxpayers to monitor and validate the Government's use of public resources, promoting transparency and accountability among duty-bearers. He cited notable achievements, such as the creation of over two million jobs since 2017, 5.7 million beneficiaries under and Free , and the construction of 1,448 rural telephony sites to enhance communication in underserved communities.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts of government officials and civil servants in compiling accurate data, Mr Nkrumah expressed confidence that the tracker would dispel misinformation and negativity surrounding the alleged misappropriation of state resources on platforms.

Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, the Information Minister Designate, emphasized the tracker's role in ensuring transparency and accountability for infrastructure projects. She noted its potential to address concerns about project accuracy and reliability while serving as a mechanism to showcase progress and impact nationwide.

Professor Kwaku Appiah-Adu, Head of the Delivery Unit at the Office of the Vice President, provided insights into the tracker's development process, highlighting the collaborative efforts of stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and validation.
