Tablets for Free SHS students not bribe – Bawumia Campaign Team

The Campaign Team of Dr. , the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (), defends the government's decision to distribute 3.1 million tablets to Free Senior High School (FSHS) students across Ghana. They assert that these tablets are essential learning materials aimed at improving teaching and learning in SHSs and enhancing student performance.

Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, refutes claims that the tablet distribution is a “misplaced priority” or a “bribe” to secure votes. He emphasizes the educational benefits of the tablets, including access to textbooks, past questions, lesson videos, and other resources, which ultimately save costs for students.

Former President , the Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (), had criticized the initiative as a political ploy to sway student votes. However, Mr. Aboagye counters these claims by highlighting Mahama's previous attempts to implement a similar project during his presidency and his promise to distribute tablets in his 2020 Manifesto.

Mr. Aboagye underscores the government's significant investments in the education sector since 2017, including infrastructure development, teacher empowerment, and digital skills training. He emphasizes improvements at all education levels, from kindergarten to tertiary, and pledges continued progress under a Bawumia-led government.

The Communications Director assures that policies like Free will be maintained to ensure inclusive education and human resource development. He concludes that the tablet distribution aligns with the government's commitment to enhancing education in Ghana.
