James Kumbeni, a dedicated cyclist and member of the Keekee Cycling Konnect in Bolgatanga, is gearing up to undertake an impressive 815-kilometre cycling journey from Bolgatanga to Accra. The journey, slated to commence on April 8, aims to raise awareness about green transportation and enhance cyclists' safety.
Mr. Kumbeni's expedition, named “Ride for Clean Air and Safe Cycling,” holds significant importance as it coincides with Atinga Nsobila Joel's Guinness World Record attempt for the longest barbecue marathon in Accra. Supported by various entities including AquaBolg, Happy Man Bitters, Eye of God Pharmacy, and A1 Radio, the journey seeks to garner attention and support for sustainable transportation initiatives.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kumbeni highlighted the primary objectives of his cycling adventure. He emphasized the importance of promoting bicycles as viable alternatives for commuting and advocating for policies that facilitate accessible and convenient cycling infrastructure.
Moreover, Mr. Kumbeni underscored the detrimental effects of vehicle emissions on both human health and the environment, citing respiratory illnesses as a significant concern.
