Mr. Yawson Otoo, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party () in , has orchestrated a unity health walk for party delegates and supporters to bolster unity and invigorate enthusiasm ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Addressing participants, Mr. Otoo underscored the significance of the walk-in fostering cohesion and understanding among supporters, emphasizing the need for unity to effectively disseminate campaign messages and secure votes for Dr. , the 's presidential candidate.

While is yet to elect its parliamentary candidate, Mr. Otoo stressed the importance for aspirants to continue campaigning for the party's cause. He highlighted his transformative policies and programs aimed at improving the lives of constituents, urging delegates to entrust him with their mandate during the primaries.

A central aspect of Mr. Otoo's agenda is the lobbying for a new district to be carved from Agona West, a proposal backed by local chiefs and elders in Nyakrom. This initiative, he explained, would accelerate infrastructural and economic development, with Agona Nyakrom slated to become the district capital, offering business opportunities and job creation prospects.

Among the anticipated benefits of the new district are the construction of hospitals, government offices, and emergency services such as fire and police stations, enhancing the overall well-being of residents.

Mr. Otoo also pledged to address longstanding infrastructure challenges, including the completion of the Astro Turf project at Nyakrom, vital for nurturing young football talent in the area. Additionally, he committed to resolving the lingering issue of the main bridge project at Nyakrom, which has impeded vehicular movement and commerce since its abandonment last year.

However, the Agona West parliamentary primaries have faced delays due to legal action taken by one of the aspirants, Mr. Joseph Afankwa, also known as Kojo Addo. Mr. Afankwa filed an interlocutory injunction against the NPP at the Commercial High Court, contesting his disqualification from the race by the Regional Vetting Committee. His disqualification stemmed from allegations of advocating “skirt and blouse” voting in previous elections, prompting his legal challenge to halt the primaries.
