Kenyan President, Dr. William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto, has praised Ghana's democracy as a beacon of hope during his three-day state visit to the country. President Ruto's remarks came during bilateral talks between Ghana and held at the in on Wednesday, April 3.

President Ruto, accompanied by a high-powered delegation of ministers and businessmen, expressed admiration for Ghana's democratic practices, especially in the face of emerging unconstitutional governments across the continent. He specifically lauded Ghana's nearly equal representation of Members of from both the Minority and Majority, citing it as evidence of the maturity and depth of Ghana's democracy.

The visit saw full honours accorded to President Ruto by the Ghana Navy, including a guard of honour, a 21-gun salute, and the playing of national anthems of both countries. President and First Lady, Mrs. , welcomed President Ruto and his delegation at the , followed by bilateral discussions and the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

President Ruto highlighted the significance of Ghana's role as the host of the () Secretariat, commending President for spearheading the initiative. He also praised Ghana's decision to remove entry fees for all Africans by December, aligning with objectives.

In response, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the growing trade and economic ties between Ghana and . He highlighted mutual cooperation on international platforms and the importance of boosting domestic and foreign investment in both nations. President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude for Kenya's support in Ghana's bid to host the AfCFTA Secretariat, underscoring the transformative potential of the agreement for the continent's economy.

The discussions between the two leaders covered various areas of collaboration, including education, trade, agriculture, tourism, defence, and security. President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the signed MoUs would enhance cooperation between Ghana and Kenya, further strengthening their bilateral relations.
