President Akufo-Addo has announced the reassignment of Dr. Stephen Amoah, also known as Sticker, from his position as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry to Deputy Minister for Finance. The decision was communicated in a letter dated April 2, 2024, signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House.
Dr. Amoah's redeployment comes in the wake of the passing of the former Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. John Kumah, on March 7, 2024. With immediate effect, Dr. Amoah will assume his new responsibilities in the finance ministry.
In the same communication, President Akufo-Addo nominated Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, the Member of Parliament for Achiase, as the Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry, subject to parliamentary approval. The President expressed hope for bipartisan support for Marfo's swift confirmation to facilitate his contribution to the government's agenda.
Dr. Stephen Amoah, representing the Nhyiaeso Constituency, initially assumed office as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry on April 4, 2023. His transition to the finance ministry marks exactly one year since assuming his previous role.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo has made other changes in the finance ministry, pending parliamentary approval. Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare is slated to become the Minister of State, succeeding Mohammed Amin Adam, who has been appointed as the substantive Finance Minister after Ken Ofori-Atta's departure on February 14, 2024.
Furthermore, Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng, the NPP's 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Juaboso constituency in the Western North Region, has been appointed as Deputy Minister for Finance. His appointment follows Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare's promotion from the deputy ministerial position to the minister of state.
