The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has extended a helping hand to the Students' Representative Council (SRC) of the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Sunyani with a cheque worth GH¢ 4,116.00. This contribution comes in response to a request made by the SRC executive during an educational tour organized by the PURC in 2023.
Led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Ishmael Ackah, the tour focused on educating students about tariffs and the proper usage of electrical appliances. Recognizing the need for support during their educational endeavours, the SRC approached the PURC for assistance in acquiring ceiling fans for the school.
Mr. Patrick Antwi, the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regional manager of the PURC, presented the cheque on behalf of the Commission. Expressing his optimism, Mr Antwi emphasized the importance of using the funds effectively to fulfill the intended purpose of enhancing the student's learning environment.
In response, Mr. David Ohene Appiah, the SRC President, expressed gratitude to the PURC for their generous support. He disclosed that the funds would be utilized to purchase 10 ceiling fans for the school's multipurpose dining hall, thereby improving the comfort of the students.
Mrs. Victoria Amoah, the Principal of the College, also conveyed her appreciation to the PURC for their gesture of goodwill. She appealed for further assistance from other institutions to address the numerous challenges faced by the College, highlighting the commitment of the College to ensure the judicious use of the funds for acquiring necessary appliances to enhance the students' comfort.
