Gonjas Enskin a New King: Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale

The Gonja Kingdom in the Region has a new king and overlord named Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale, who was enskinned on Monday in Nyange, the ancient traditional capital of the Gonja Kingdom.

The enskinment ceremony was carried out in accordance with the customs and traditions of Gonjas and was accompanied by traditional drumming and dancing throughout the night.

Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale is 69 years old and was outdoored yesterday, March 21, at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.

He previously held various sub-chieftaincy titles, including Jakpasere-wura, Timanklan-wura, Kachinako-wura, and Bunda-wura, before he was enskinned as the of Tuluwe Traditional Area on April 21, 2020.

He was ruling in that capacity before his selection and subsequent enskinment as Yagbonwura, which came after the death of the then Yagbonwura Tuntumba Sulemana Jakpa Bore Essa on February 05, 2023.

His funeral had also been performed prior to the enskinment ceremony of the new king.

The enskinment ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Regional Minister, Mr Saeed Jibril Muhazu, and the Member of for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency, Hon. Mohammed Ahmed Seidu.

Mr Muhazu congratulated the new king and expressed his hope that Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale's reign would bring peace and development to the Gonja Kingdom.

He also urged the people of Gonja to support their new king and work together for the progress of the kingdom.

Hon. Mohammed Ahmed Seidu also congratulated the new king and expressed his confidence in Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale's ability to lead the Gonja Kingdom to greater heights.

He called on the people of Gonja to unite behind their new king and work together for the common good.

The new king has since returned to Damongo after the enskinment ceremony, and he is expected to begin his reign as the Yagbonwura of the Gonja Kingdom.
