In a notable development, Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Africa Federation and Vice President of the Federation has respectfully declined an appointment to serve on H.E Dr. Bawumia's 2024 Campaign Manifesto Sub-Committee on .

Mr Osei Asibey recognized for his unwavering dedication to sports development and advocacy, has chosen not to join the campaign sub-committee to uphold his apolitical stance. Citing the importance of maintaining neutrality and impartiality in his current roles within the sporting community, he believes it is crucial to keep separate from sports.

In a statement issued today, Mr Osei Asibey emphasized the need to ensure a clear distinction between and sports, given his leadership positions in Armwrestling at local, continental, and global levels. As the President of the Africa Armwrestling Federation and Vice President of the Armwrestling Federation, his responsibilities include promoting fairness and integrity in the sport.

Moreover, Mr. Osei Asibey highlighted his role as the General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), underscoring his commitment to supporting sports journalism and advocacy within the country.

“Evidently, my love and passion for the development of my country is not in doubt, but by virtue of the international positions that I hold and the position as General Secretary of SWAG, I am required not to be, or be seen to be partisan, because as we all know, global or international sports commits us, as leaders, to fair play and non-alignment in any way,” Mr Osei Asibey stated in the released statement.

While Mr Osei Asibey has opted not to directly engage in politics, he remains devoted to enhancing sports policies in Ghana. He has pledged to continue sharing his ideas for sports development improvement and expressed openness to discussions on the matter.

Acknowledging the opportunity extended to him, Mr Osei Asibey has written to the committee, expressing gratitude and wishing the Dr Bawumia 2024 Campaign success in its endeavours.
