KNUST murder case: Police recover victim’s laptop and phone, suspect remanded

Investigators have made significant progress in the ongoing probe into the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

University authorities confirmed that the Ghana Police Service and the KNUST Security Services have retrieved Joana’s laptop and mobile phone, which were hidden behind the Flint Hostel. The location was identified through security camera footage, providing crucial evidence for the case.

The suspect, who is currently in custody, was arraigned before the Asafo Circuit Court on Friday, February 28, and has been remanded until the next hearing on March 17, 2025.

In a statement, KNUST management assured the public of their full cooperation with law enforcement and reiterated their commitment to campus security. The university is also implementing additional surveillance measures to enhance student safety.

Authorities have urged students, staff, and the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.

Meanwhile, the university extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of Joana Deladem Yabani, promising continued support in these difficult times.
