Electoral Commission disowns declared results in Yendi NPP primaries: Ghana News

The (EC) has released a statement disassociating itself from the declared results of the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary election in the constituency, citing disruptions caused by violence at the voting center.

The poll in pitted incumbent MP, Farouk Aliu Mahama, against Chief Executive Officer of , Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah. However, violence erupted at the voting center, disrupting the counting process.

According to the , a total of 785 out of 794 registered voters cast their ballots. The counting of votes for incumbent Farouk Aliu Mahama was interrupted when the Presiding Officer tallied 296 votes in his favor.

Unfortunately, the destruction of 489 remaining ballots prevented the completion of the collation process, leading to the EC disassociating itself from any declaration.

In a statement addressing a circulating video on allegedly declaring results in favor of the incumbent, the Electoral Commission clarified that it had not officially declared any results for the Yendi Constituency in the Parliamentary elections.
