Upon review of an affidavit submitted by Lariba Zuwera Abudu, The New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent MP for Walewale, in the North East Region, on January 29th, 2024, in support of an ex-parte motion for an interim injunction, the High Court has issued a restraining order against the defendants.
This order, as pronounced by Sylvester Isang Esq, acting as counsel for the Plaintiff/Applicant, prohibits the defendants from recognizing the 1st defendant as the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) candidate elect for the Walewale Constituency in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections.
The injunction specifically prohibits the defendants, along with their agents, assigns, and workmen, from officially endorsing the 1st defendant's candidacy by submitting their name to the NPP National Office.
This action stems from alleged irregularities surrounding the 27th January 2024 NPP Parliamentary primaries for the Walewale Constituency.
Moreover, the court has stipulated that this injunction will remain in effect for a period of ten (10) days, after which the plaintiff/applicant may pursue further legal action by providing notice to the defendants.
