NPP yet to receive report on assault of journalist during Yendi primaries: Ghana News

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (), , has stated that the party is yet to receive an official report concerning the assault of Mohammed Alabira, a journalist with Citi FM/Citi TV, during the recent in , .

The attack allegedly occurred while Alabira was reporting on disturbances at the Senior High School, the venue for the election. It was reportedly led by Farouk Aliu Mahama, the Member of for Yendi.

In an on Eyewitness , Mr Kodua Frimpong emphasized the party's commitment to addressing the incident once a formal report is received. He condemned any act that undermines the integrity of journalists and assured that the party would take appropriate action upon verification of the incident.

Quoting Mr Frimpong: “Well, as of now, I've not received any report of that nature and if indeed it happened, then it would have been an unfortunate incident and the party would look at it. is a party that would never support any act that seeks to undermine and attack the integrity of journalists in this country.”

When questioned about his awareness of the incident, Frimpong admitted that he had not been informed, citing his busy schedule handling various party matters. He reiterated the party's stance against any form of violence or misconduct, especially towards journalists.

Quoting Mr Frimpong again: “Well, I have not. You might not expect that I'll know everything that is happening. From Saturday, as General Secretary, I've been overburdened with several issues and just today I was at Manhyia, so it is possible that I might not have heard it and I've told you that I've not, and I've even made a position that if it happened, it would have been an unfortunate incident.”
