Government to complete Kumasi Airport project by May 2024, assures Majority Leader: Ghana News

The Majority Leader in and Member of for Suame Constituency, Hon. , has assured that the government is committed to completing the abandoned Airport project by May 2024.

Responding to claims by Former President during his walk in , Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stated on Angel FM that the current government has prioritized the completion of the Kumasi Airport project.

“Today, the Kumasi Airport is 90% complete. So you can't say the government hasn't done anything about it,” he emphasized, refuting claims of abandonment made by the former president.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the project is expected to be commissioned and operationalized by the close of April or May 2024, signaling the government's commitment to infrastructure development in the region.

Phase II of the Kumasi Airport project, which commenced in 2018, encompasses the construction of a new terminal building, boarding bridges, road network, perimeter fence, substation, and parking lot, among other facilities, at an estimated cost of £66,350,000.

Additionally, Phase III of the expansion project involves extending the existing runway pavement, constructing a new taxi link, apron parking stands, Air Traffic Control Building, and Fire Station, with an estimated cost of £58,900,000.
