MP Mahama Ayariga denounces military's involvement in Bawku killings: Ghana News

Mahama Ayariga, the Member of (MP) for Central in the region, has vehemently rejected claims suggesting the military's non-involvement in the killing of three individuals in the constituency.

During an on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, January 20, Ayariga expressed disbelief at the notion of the military's innocence in the matter.

He stressed the importance of fostering trust between the military and constituents, dismissing the idea that the killings occurred without provocation.

“I find it totally unacceptable that the military should behave the way that they have in , particularly the way that these three young men were killed,” Ayariga stated firmly.

He demanded accountability from the security agencies responsible for the deaths.

Ayariga provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the killings, stating, “Young men were sitting in their base and having their conversation, and then the military pounced on them.”

He emphasized that eyewitnesses, including the local assemblyman, corroborated the events.

The MP challenged the notion that the military could have acted without provocation, insisting, “Exactly that is why I'm condemning them because they should produce the provocation – what was the provocation?” Ayariga demanded an explanation for the military's actions and urged transparency in the investigation process.
