The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has unveiled its flagship initiative, the “2024 ECOWAS Investment Forum,” during a media launch at its headquarters in Lome, Togo.
Organized under the theme, “Transforming ECOWAS Communities in a Challenging Environment,” the forum aims to foster investment opportunities and promote shared prosperity within the sub-region.
Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, President of EBID, emphasized the significance of media support in ensuring the success of the initiative, stating, “The media launch aimed to solicit support from the media in bringing the initiative to the front burner towards making the Forum a success.”
The forum, scheduled for April 4th and 5th in Togo, will serve as a strategic platform for development partners and stakeholders to connect and promote investment opportunities in key sectors of ECOWAS Member States.
Dr. Donkor outlined the objectives of the forum, stating, “The 2024 EIF will showcase the high investment potential of West Africa, present a pipeline of development projects and programs from the private and public sectors, as well as facilitate pertinent investment partnerships and conversations.”
The event will focus on addressing critical issues such as food security, infrastructure development, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.
Mr. Sani Yaya, Minister for Economy and Finance of Togo and Governor of EBID highlighted Togo's commitment to regional integration and sustainable development, emphasizing the forum's role in exploring the potentials of member states and driving sustainable development initiatives.
Madam Nialé Kaba, Minister for Economy, Planning, and Development of Côte d'Ivoire and Chairperson of the Board of Governors of EBID, expressed optimism that the forum would facilitate investment partnerships and drive sustainable development in the ECOWAS sub-region.
The forum, which will bring together stakeholders from governments, industry, the private sector, and the media, underscores EBID's commitment to promoting integrated, inclusive, and resilient development across West Africa.
