Ambulance Purchase Case: Trial adjourned as Lawyers for Ato Forson petitions Chief Justice for judge’s removal over alleged bias

Lawyers for Dr. Cassiel , former Deputy Finance Minister, have submitted a motion requesting the presiding judge in the ambulance purchase trial to recuse herself.

Dr. Forson has also applied for the return of his seized passport, which was part of his bail conditions.

During the court session on Thursday, July 13, Judge Afia Serwaa Asare acknowledged that Richard Jakpa, the third accused person in the case, had petitioned the Chief Justice, alleging bias against the presiding judge.

Consequently, the trial was adjourned until July 27, awaiting a decision from Chief Justice .

Dr. , along with Richard Jakpa, a businessman, and Sylvester Anemana, a former Chief Director of the , are facing trial for allegedly causing financial loss to the state in the procurement of 200 ambulances at a cost of €2.37 million.
