Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his performance despite facing numerous challenges during his tenure.
Akyea emphasized that Akufo-Addo's leadership stood out, given the adversities posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which have significantly impacted global economies.
During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Citi TV, Akyea commended the President for implementing the free Senior High School policy, noting its substantial benefits for future generations.
He also highlighted Akufo-Addo's initiative to construct a hospital in every district, describing these achievements as noteworthy contributions to the country's development.
“I don't think he [Akufo-Addo] has underperformed. What I believe is that he has had a lot of trouble. People underrate the power of COVID-19. President Nkrumah never faced that.
The Russia-Ukraine war, of which the evidence is conclusive, the cold fact that economies contracted because of this situation,” Akyea stated.
The MP criticized perceptions of Akufo-Addo as a “bad storyteller,” asserting that the President's achievements, such as free Senior High School and the district hospitals initiative, laid a solid foundation for the nation's progress.
Akyea emphasized the significance of these governance achievements and their long-term impact on Ghana's development.
