In a historic turn of events, the constituency in the Region has elected its first female parliamentary candidate during the recent National Democratic Congress () primary elections.

Jean-Marie Formadi emerged victorious, securing 490 votes against six contenders, including the incumbent Member of (MP), Kwadwo Nyanpon Aboagye.

This marks Jean-Marie Formadi's third attempt at the parliamentary seat, having contested in 2015 and 2019. A member of the 's national communications team, Formadi expressed determination, stating that previous defeats did not deter her from vying for the seat.
